NEW SUCTION FEEDER FOR SENSITIVE PAPER

A new suction feeder for manufacturers of highly sensitive paper has been launched into the UK by one of the leading providers of feeding, labelling and wrapping equipment, Advanced Dynamics Limited.

The Köra-Packmat HSW high-performance vacuum drum feeder uses vacuum technology to handle sensitive paper, thereby eliminating the damage often caused by the weight of products in traditional feeders. Another major advantage of the system is the operational speed. It can handle a massive 500 products per minute or 220 metres per minute (continuously), depending on the format. And it processes 70g/m² to 170g/m² paper, of sizes up to A1. In addition, the feeder is a non-stop system that allows operatives to replace the product stack while it is still in operation, rather than waiting until the end of the run.

When paper runs off the magazine, a vacuum sucks up the sheet and holds it in place. The drum then rotates and the paper moves in the direction of the rotation. It is then released and fed down the line for packaging and labelling. It ensures no weight is put onto the product as it is being dispensed, so less contact equals less damage.

The HSW feeder is ideal for paper manufacturers and processors of sensitive paper, such as light sensitive paper, digital photographic paper, fibre-based paper, resin coated paper, vinyl, and OHP.

Joint managing director of Advanced Dynamics Limited, Mike Essler, explained why this machine has entered the market at an ideal time for paper manufacturers:

“The demand for new types of graphic print media, especially those for digital photography, is growing very fast. The HSW feeder reduces the wastage of damaged paper and offers a very high output, which enables paper manufacturers to keep up with demand. "

It can be supplied as a stand-alone system or as a complete collating line for counting and packing. It is available in a range of sizes, as batch counters or single product feeders. Advanced Dynamics has already installed a number of systems for feeding and labelling large sheets of card or paper.

In addition, it feeds independent of paper thickness, and runs from its own air supply via a vacuum pump. It has antistatic brushes on the out-feed to avoid static charging of products. The magazine weight does not affect the separation and this allows a high degree of magazine loading.

Advanced Dynamics, based in Bradford, West Yorkshire, specialises in the supply of feeding, labelling and wrapping equipment for the print, food and drink and pharmaceutical industries.
