How we’re helping small businesses to grow
At the beginning of 2022, 99.2% of all businesses in the UK were made up by small and medium sized enterprises (SME’s). With industry leaders coming from food and beverage, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, and distilleries, it was an absolute no brainer that with over 30 years’ experience, we were able to step in and offer the expertise, support and machinery needed for SME’s wanting to take the next step into automation and expansion for their business.
The number one issue faced by SME’s is the increase in demand, therefore an obvious increase in production. It’s not exactly a bad problem to have, is it? but it does come with its own issues when looking at the speed, production, and quality assurance of hand filling, capping and labelling. This is where we can step into those well-worn boots to offer our expertise, guidance, and a good dose of northern humour to seamlessly make the process of manufacturing that little more streamlined.
If you’re an SME whose business provides packaged products on a large scale, chances are you’re in need of automated machine to meet demand. Take Love Hemp for example, who came to us as it became apparent that the increase in demand for their high-quality CBD products had reached a point where hand-filling was no longer a viable option. We offered the perfect solution; assessing their needs, we offered them the FL-12 Compact Filling System. The full production line included the CP-10 Capping Machine, PL-501 Labelling Machine, SL-77 Tamper Evident Sleeve Applicator Machine and HST-70 Shrink Tunnel.
Not only did this offer the ease of automation, but it also minimised wastage (and you know us northerners hate waste), guaranteed safety regulations and allowed for business expansion. Love Hemp have since gone on to produce 40 product lines consisting of oils, sprays, and tinctures. Alongside this impressive feat, they’ve also secured the backing of World Heavyweight Champion Anthony Joshua, and more recently in 2021 joined the Aquis Stock Exchange.
In 2022, the SME food and beverage industry accounted for £22billion in turnover in the UK. If you’re wanting to take a slice of that market share pie, then you’ll quickly realise that your production efforts, accuracy, and safety precautions are key to manufacturing and selling a successful top-line product. It’s not just a case of bottling your product, sticking a label on it and away you go, there’s a lot more red-tape to cross and invaluable guidance that you need to succeed, and that’s why we have been the go-to for thousands of SME brands to break the market and meet demand.
Whilst we may not be able to provide filling systems for carbonated beverages, we have been the trusted suppliers of labelling machines for a number of micro-breweries wanting to take the leap from cask or kegs to bottles and cans. In May 2022, John O’Groats Brewery approached us with a need for packaging automation. Looking to speed up their labelling process they had made the decision to look at purchasing their first labelling machine. With the added requirement for date and batch coding, we were able to offer them an ELF-50 Desktop Labeller with TIJ Batch Coding System for printing batch codes and best before dates on the labels prior to application.
